The Menin Gate & Last Post
The Menin Gate is inscribed with the names of more than 54,000 soldiers who died in the Great War, who have no known graves.
It's an immensely moving memorial, even more so when, at 8pm every day of the year, the Last Post is sounded - as it has been every day since 1928.
Passendale, Tyne Cot & Trenches
Having visited In Flanders Fields museum, a trip outside town is recommended to see the various
memorials to the Great War; if you don't have a car, cycle (if it's summer) or join a local tour group.
In Flanders Fields
Though there are reminders of World War I throughout Ypres & The Battlefields, it is In Flanders Fields Museum that the war is very much brought to life,
using documentary films, sight-and-sound exhibitions, interactive displays and contemporary documents.
