No visit to Flanders would be complete without sampling some of the many delicious beer recipes which provide a unique taste
to traditional dishes. In Mechelen, the Brasserie Het Anker is attached to the brewery so its locally made beers

Het Anker Brewery
Guido Gezellelaan 49, Mechelen 2800
Het Anker's cafe "brew-pub" is located off the Mechelen market area along the canal. It is an old building with high
ceilings, and wood decor. One feature is the anchor inside the bar but the actual brewery is next door. Whilst there,
its main beers to try are the Bruynen Anker, a 6% bruin, amber in colour, with caramel flavours and a sweet finish.
Tripel Carolus, is a spicy, dry, 9% Golden Tripel with a huge head. And finally, Gulden Carolus, is its dark amber
strong ale at 7.5%, with plenty of malty, liquorice flavours, and a big sweet finish. Well recommended and no disappointment!
